sunset visitor 斜陽過客 is an independent studio based in Vancouver, Canada (located on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples). Our mission is to tell meaningful and diverse stories through the lens of speculative fiction. 

Our debut game 1000xRESIST won a 2024 Peabody Award and was nominated for both Hugo and Nebula Awards.

We are looking for 3D Artist Generalists to join our team. We prefer candidates located in Vancouver. Candidates outside Vancouver are nonetheless encouraged to apply as we are willing to either aid in relocation or accommodate remote work for an exceptional candidate.

We are looking to see a wide range of portfolios and applicants with different arrangements of skills (3D Modelling, 3D Animation, 3D Rigging, 3D Texturing, 2D/3D Concept Art). 

We are also open to accommodating different work types (full-time, part-time, contractor) based on the interest and needs of the applicants.

Compensation:

Requirements:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • 3+ years experience as a professional in the games industry or hobbyist with completed projects

    • If you have hobbyist experience, please include support material of your completed projects/your portfolio (link or file upload on the form)

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will vary based on your engagement with the company, but broadly include:

  • Bringing 2D concepts to life as 3D models.

  • Taking direction from the Creative Director and working with the Creative Director and Writers to create characters and places.

  • Communicating regularly with the broader team.

  • Influencing and shaping art and/or animation pipelines.

  • Working with the broader team to meet assigned deadlines.

  • Researching, investigating, and learning new technologies as needed.

Bonus Experience:

  • Shaders, HLSL, and other rendering tools & technology

  • Plastic SCM/Unity Version Control or other Version Control Systems
